Consul Bonaparte

 

12 December 1799	Bonaparte, Sieyes and Ducos are appointed Consuls, and adopt the Constitution of the Year VIII.
1800	Austria refuses Bonaparte's peace proposals and blocks Masséna at Genoa. ITALIA CAMPAIGN .
24 December	Assassination attempt of the rue Saint-Nicaise, that Bonaparte attributes to the Jacobins, and then breaks all opposition.
1803	Thanks to the success of HIS REFORMS Bonaparte enjoys popular support. He gets the Constitution of the Year X adopted and it appoints him Life Consul. He imposed on Germany the Regensburg (Ratisbonne) Act (Recès), signs the Act of Mediation with the Swiss, beseiges Piedmont and annexes Hannover.
August 1803	England digs up the hatchet and Bonaparte replieds by concentrating the Grand Army on the CAMP DE BOULOGNE
1804	Bonaparte organises the murder of the young Duck of Enghien, thus finally breaking off all ties with the Royalists.
