Barrême, which stands at 727 metres above sea level at its highest point, is in the south of the department called Alpes de Haute Provence. Standing at the crossroads of the Côte d'Azur, Barrême is 118 km. from Nice and 90 km from Grasse on the RN85. Of the five lavender factories in existence at the beginning of the century, only one can now be seen with its immense chimney, which no longer smokes.
